David Bromstad’s infectious blend of energy, creativity and dedication to each project distinguish him as a truly unique artist, design personality and television host.

David can currently be seen on three of television’s hottest design shows. In May 2012, David returned for the biggest season of HGTV Design Star yet, serving as host of the series, as well as contestant mentor. Also in 2012 David hosted the first season of Design Star All Stars, where the top contestants from seasons past competed against each other for the ultimate title. April 2012, David launched the new series The White Room Challenge on HGTV, based on the popular HGTV Design Star challenge of the same name. The show features David as host and judge, with four designers competing each week.

David is the original winner of HGTV Design Star, which led to his role as host and designer on his first hit series for HGTV, Color Splash, where David transforms tired rooms into vibrant, unforgettable spaces. David completed more than 100 episodes for Color Splash around the country including San Francisco, New York and Miami. David has also appeared on HGTV programs including HGTV’d, HGTV Showdown, Bang for Your Buck, and more.

He is the first ever HGTV personality to be named to the OUT Magazine 100 List, alongside international superstar Ricky Martin and Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore. In 2011, he was given the prestigious HRC Visibility Award for living an out and proud lifestyle in the public eye. He has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Nate Berkus Show, The Wendy Williams Show and Paula Deen. David’s design advice has also been featured in USA Today, People and Better Homes & Gardens. David has also provided spokesperson services on behalf of a broad range of corporations including Microsoft, Dupont, Sherwin Williams, Pier 1 and Tibotec Therapeutics just to name a few.

Growing up in small town Minnesota, David’s budding creativity and passion for drawing led him to the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. David launched his career in art and design at Walt Disney World in Orlando shortly after completing his education – a dream come true. David has conceived and executed major installations for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. David’s installations are a focal point at many of the world’s top amusement parks and seen by millions of visitors every year.

David produced his first exhibition of art and custom furniture for Art Basel Miami Beach in December 2011, which is the country’s top visual arts event. In 2011, many of David’s signature paintings were made available to the public for the very first time through a partnership with Penny Lane Publishing. The art is also available in large format wallpaper murals from Murals Your Way. He is currently developing a collection of bed and bath products with global textile manufacturer 1888 Mills that will be available later this year. David’s art has been licensed for barware and accessories with Thirstystone, and those products will debut in 2012 as well. David has been making high-profile design industry appearances including a keynote at the Pacific Design Center’s Westweek celebration in March 2012, where he joined other top design personalities for the “Rise of the Rock Star Designer” panel to a standing-room-only crowd as well as several speaking engagements as a design expert at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA).

David’s designs have been described as being on the cutting edge of commercial and residential trends with a keen and sophisticated eye on color and style. He now brings that wealth of experience into your home or business through his Miami design firm, David Bromstad Designs, which provides services throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
