5 Fall Design Trends for 2013

5 Fall Design Trends for 2013 that will surely carry into the new year.

-Mixing woods, lacquers and metals will continue to be a huge trend in the design world. I have always loved doing this in my own designs and now, I am so excited to see this in the design world today. The use of brass, copper and my favorite……GOLD will continue to be seen in all areas of the home. From lamps, furniture, walls, dishes and more. The shine is back and I think I’m a little bit in love.

-Wallpaper has made a huge comeback, so huge its changed its name to wall coverings and I couldn’t be happier. Innovative textures and prints will continue to be seen in homes and in commercial spaces. A dramatic impact in design that gives the wow factor that hasn’t been achieved ever because of new technology. People are creating environments with bold texture and prints just as they were doing with paint years ago but in a much more sophisticated and timeless pattern.

-Color, Color, Color. Bold colors will be seen throughout the home. Reds, yellows, greens, deep blues and more. People are not afraid anymore. Neutrals mixed with vibrant and gorgeous jewel tones will be a huge trend this season. And still, one of my favorites, black and white. Classic and still going strong

-Bold Patterns will be seen throughout the home. Big patterns in rugs, throw pillows, wallpaper and home accessories will continue well into the fall and behind.

-Repurposed Furniture. Another one of my favorite things to do in home design. People are realizing just how amazing an old piece of furniture can become when they refinish it with a fresh new look. Taking old and many times classic pieces of furniture, having them painted with bold colors or metallic finishes will be a huge trend moving into the fall season and beyond. It’s really amazing what you can do with a little paint and some gorgeous fabric.
