Fashion Designers A-Z Book Launch at TASCHEN Miami Beach
Last Friday, March 8th, I had the honor of hosting an intimate event at the TASCHEN store in Miami Beach for the book launch of Fashion Designers A-Z: The Collection of the Museum at FIT written by Valerie Steele, Director at The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Valerie was on-hand signing the limited edition books and she spoke about the process of creating the book with guests in attendance during a Q&A hosted by Charlene Parsons, Chair of Fashion Design, Merchandising and Accessory Design at Miami International University of Art & Design. Both these women are so fabulous! And THE BOOK! I can’t put my Missoni edition down.
As I mentioned in my previous post, Valerie worked with six designers — Akris, Etro, Stella McCartney, Missoni, Prada and Diane von Furstenberg — to create a limited edition series of Designer Editions. Each edition is bound in a fabric created by one of the designers and comes in a Plexiglas box. These Designer Editions are gorgeous! There are only 11,000 copies total globally so run to get yours because they’re flying off the shelves.Fashion Designers A-Z is the perfect addition to any fashionable home. The Designer Editions retail for $350 and can be purchased on the TASCHEN website or any TASCHEN store.
Valerie is now working on a book and exhibit that will premiere during NY Fashion Week in September called Queer Style: From the Closet to the Catwalk where she explores the influence of gays in fashion. I can’t wait! NY Fashion Week here I come!!
